How to read it. Flex has fewer battles than most models above and below it, so its rating is less settled. Gaps of 10–15 points, like Flex vs Kling 4.0 or MiniMax H3, are close to a tie. The board measures average preference on short prompts, not your use case: physics, long scenes or text rendering can rank differently.
Pika’s automatic quality metrics
Pika’s technical report compares Flex with its base model and the hosted H3 Max on the same prompts at 768p (higher is better):
| Metric | Pika H3 Flex | MiniMax H3 | H3 Max (hosted) |
|---|---|---|---|
| VT (visual quality) | 12.3 | 11.7 | 10.6 |
| VA (visual quality) | 5.41 | 5.28 | 5.00 |
| KVQ (visual quality) | 0.024 | 0.022 | 0.019 |
| UVQ (visual quality) | 0.602 | 0.595 | 0.590 |
| AA (audio quality) | 7.02 | 6.85 | 6.89 |
| A-V (audio-video alignment) | 0.212 | 0.208 | 0.216 |
| T-V (text-video alignment) | 0.225 | 0.225 | 0.226 |
These are vendor benchmarks. They favour Flex on visual and audio quality; alignment is essentially level.
Human preference study
Pika also ran an Elo-style human study. Raters preferred Flex for:
- human anatomy, complex composition and audio sync (text and image to video);
- visual style, framing and camera motion (reference to video).
Other systems were preferred for physics, multi-scene narrative, lighting and materials, and action-heavy scenes. In practice that points to Flex being strongest on short, people-centric or product shots with sound, and weakest on complex physical interaction.
Speed
Flex samples in 6 steps instead of the base model’s 50 (how it works). Pika reports about 1.8× lower latency than hosted H3 Max on average, and roughly 2× at 10 and 15 seconds. Speed is not part of the arena score, but it changes how many takes you can afford per idea.
What the rankings mean in practice
- For short social clips and ads with sound, Flex is in the same band as Kling 4.0 and ahead of Seedance 2.5 on average preference. See Pika H3 Flex vs Seedance 2.5.
- Against its own base, Flex edges MiniMax H3 on most measures, but MiniMax H3 keeps native 2K. See Pika H3 Flex vs MiniMax H3.
- If you need the top of the board regardless of openness, the Gemini Omni models led on November 2. See Pika H3 Flex alternatives.
